SACRED MUSIC OF CHINA

TThe 30-piece Sydney Conservatorium of Music Chinese Music Ensemble and the Chinese choirs of Ashfield celebrate the sacredness of life and nature through traditional Chinese music and song. Featuring the Australian Chinese Happy Choir, Sydney Shaoxing Opera Troupe and West Region Chinese Association Choir with conductor Mr Warwick Tyrrell, and artistic directors Lulu Liu and Dr Nicholas Ng.

Artists

Dr Nicholas Ng is a composer/performer who has appeared at Sydney Opera House, Merkin Concert Hall (New York) and at festivals such as KunstenFESTIVALdesarts (Brussels), Melbourne International Arts Festival, OzAsia Festival (Adelaide) and Push Festival (Vancouver). He is passionate about meditation, spirituality and healing through sound, and has been involved in the Sydney Sacred Music Festival since 2012.

Lu LIU (Lulu, an internationally renowned virtuoso on the pipa (4-stringed Chinese lute). Lulu has appeared extensively in China, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong as. Highlights include “On the Wire” (BBC Radio), “Play me a story – Nutcracker” at Sydney Opera House, and the World Peace Festival in South Korea with an audience of 7000.
