Oceanic Rhythms

Campbelltown Arts Centre in association with the Sydney Sacred Music Festival invites you to Oceanic Rhythms – Songs of the Pacific, a sacred space of music and stories from Oceania. 
Songs of the Pacific sees Western Sydney-based Pacifica musicians from Samoa, Tonga and Fiji paying respect to the past by performing Pacific classics and creating the future with new songs written in response.

Maybelle Galuvao

Maybelle is no stranger to the spotlight having enjoyed notoriety as a member of the girl group, ‘Ma-V-Elle’, performing alongside big names such as Tina Turner and Jimmy Barnes in her late teens. She co-wrote two albums during her five-year stint with the all girl trio and is now looking to produce a successful solo album of her own.

While supporting her husband’s NRL career and raising a family, Maybelle has maintained her craft by teaching singing lessons from home, performing at corporate functions and on televised sporting events like singing half time entertainment at NRL Grand final, State of Origin

In 2014, she had a small stint on The Voice season 3 and made Team Kylie.

She's currently lead singer of RnB/Souls corporate band SoulNights where they continue to have a Friday residency at ' The Star'  in the prestigious venue 'Rocklily'

She continues to write songs as she prepares to release her EP later this year.

Ilisavani Cava

Ilisavani Cava possesses a talent and star quality that is undeniable.

Ilisavani started singing at a very young age and after Winning Fijian Idol in 2009 and being the youngest winner at the age of 16 , he is No Doubt to Make it Big. He is No stranger to featuring in TV commercials, the multifaceted artist has being performing on live aired performance across the South Pacific. Ilisavani then moved to Sydney Australia where he calls it his 2nd home and is pursuing his Music. In 2012 he auditioned for The Australia X Factor and managed to have reached the Boot Camp day 2 Top 40 ! Most recently he featured in The Voice 2016.

Over the years, Trey has established herself as a prominent artist within hip-hop & urban music in Australia. Her unique style offers a fresh serve of positive, melodic & insightful rhymes & rhythms ‘bout life, love & her experiences.

Lyric-writing began in primary school, while listening to reggae, island music and what ever was on the radio. She was introduced to hip-hop through movies like 'Krush Groove' and music videos by 'Rock Steady Crew', but wasn't propelled to rap her own words over beats until the early 90's. Her Fijian heritage and father's gospel singing helped inspire & mould Trey's musical abilities. This is manifested through her melodic delivery of rhyme and song.
