Ukulele’s, Food and Fun
Sunday 16 Sept, 11am - Community and Refugee Welcome Centre, Lilyfield
FREE picnic and performance. An inclusive fun event that invites our Ukulele playing communities to come and share their skills and help teach our newly arrived friends one song.
By the time we have eaten, laughed and practiced together in the lush surrounds of the Parramatta River, we will be ready for our 200 strong Ukulele led by Tom the Pom and supported by the Cook Island Cultural Group who will play a few of their cultural songs to get us in the mood!

11am - Arrive, chat, tune up
11.30am -1pm – Uke Workshop
1pm -2.30pm – Lunch
2.30pm – 3pm – refresher workshop
3pm – 4pm – Concert (in hall) – Cook islander Cultural Group , Tom the Pom and Mass Uke Jam

Tom the Pom
Tom is a community musician and performer with a focus on introducing large groups to ukulele or drumming. Teaching everyone from preschool aged kids to international corporate training. He has led workshops on ukulele, Samba drumming and djembe drumming in England, Scotland, Hong Kong, Dubai, Switzerland and Australia. He has regular gigs with adults with learning difficulties and visits hundreds of Primary and High schools every year.
He has played a season at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, performed to over 80,000 people at Acer Arena, taught himself didjeridoo on a piece of drainpipe in Essex and facilitated drumming at many marches and rallies for environmental causes.
He is married with one son, two dogs and three chickens.
